Why “Look Now Toward Heaven”?

Our website’s theme comes from Genesis 15:5. God meets with Abram and reminds him of the promise that God would make of Abram a great nation. The Lord showed Abram this by taking him outside and saying, “Look now toward heaven, and tell the stars, if thou be able to number them: and he said unto him, So shall thy seed be.”

Today we can look at God’s work more efficiently than Abram could. As technology has advanced, so has our ability to see the wonders of the universe. From Galileo’s first glimpse of the moons of Jupiter to the breathtaking images taken by the James Webb Space Telescope, we are now, more than at any other time in history, able to look up and try to count the stars.

An even more astronomical event occurred about 2,000 years ago. The God of creation sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to die on the cross to pay the sin debt for all. Jesus Christ took the place of every man, woman, and child on the cross. Jesus Christ paid for our sins with His own pure blood. Christ’s final words were, “It is finished”! Before His death, Jesus said, “My meat is to do the will of him that sent me and to finish his work.” John 4:34

Jesus Christ lived a sinless life so He could be the perfect sacrifice for our sins. God the Father sent His son, Jesus Christ, to offer Eternal Life to man for FREE. Why would the God of creation do this?

You are a sinner:

“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;” Romans 3:23

As a sinner, your eternal destination is Hell:

“But the fearful, and unbelieving, and abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.” Revelation 21:8

God didn’t make Hell for man:

“Then shall he say unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the Devil and his angels:” Matthew 25:41

Jesus died, was buried, and rose again to take your place!

“For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:” 1 Corinthians 15:3-4

God the Father offers you the gift of eternal life in Jesus Christ:

“But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:” John 1:12

“Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:”

Romans 3:24

“For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” Romans 6:23

“He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.”

1 John 5:12

Jesus Christ himself said:

...I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” John 14:6

“...And him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.” John 6:37b

As sinners, we have willfully broken the laws of God. He has stood by as we have lied, coveted, stolen, and done so much more, and yet, in His love, offers us the Way out. He offers the life of His Son, Jesus Christ, in our place. Receiving Jesus Christ is an act of faith. You must first admit that you are a sinner. You must believe that Jesus died for your sins, according to the Scriptures, that He was buried, and that three days later, He rose from the dead according to the Scriptures. In believing this, the Gospel, you can call on the Lord to save you from hell and to give you eternal life. God the Father will give you eternal life. “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” Romans 10:13

The main purpose of this site is to point people to Jesus Christ, who made all things celestial and terrestrial, and to give Him glory. It is our sincerest desire that, by looking up and considering the wonders of the night sky, you also consider your relationship with the Creator and whether you have made things right with Him. He has done all the work in providing the Way, Jesus Christ. All that is asked of you in return is to receive His Son, Jesus Christ, by faith.
